When you enquire, book, or attend a session, we may collect:

  • Date of birth (to verify minimum age requirements)

  • Tattoo concept, reference images, and placement details

  • Relevant medical history and skin condition disclosures

  • Payment information (processed securely via Square — we do not store card data)

  • Photographic records of completed tattoo work (with your consent)

Your information is used solely for the following purposes:

  • Processing bookings and managing appointment scheduling

  • Communicating with you regarding your booking, design, and session

  • Carrying out your tattoo safely and to a professional standard

  • Sending follow-up communications related to aftercare or rebooking (where consented)

4. Marketing & communication

With your explicit consent, we may occasionally contact you with information related to booking availability, studio updates, flash days, or services offered by House of Black. You may opt out at any time by replying STOP to any SMS, using the unsubscribe link in any email, or contacting us directly.

5. How we store your information

Your personal information is stored across the following platforms, each used for a specific purpose:

  • GoHighLevel (CRM) — stores your contact details, consent form, booking history, and communication records. Used to manage client relationships and send booking-related communications.

  • Square — processes and stores your payment information and appointment records. We do not store card details — all payment data is handled by Square's PCI-compliant systems.

  • ManyChat — used to send automated messages via Instagram and Facebook Messenger where you have engaged with our social channels.

  • Meta (Facebook & Instagram) — we run advertising using the Meta Pixel, which collects anonymised data about visits to our booking page and website. Where required by law, a regulatory body, or court order, we may also be required to disclose your information. Our booking page uses tracking technology (including the Meta Pixel) that collects anonymised visit and interaction data for advertising purposes only. Access to all platforms is restricted to authorised House of Black staff only.

These Terms of Service govern your booking and session with House of Black Tattoo Studio. By booking an appointment or engaging our services, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to these terms in full.

1. Age requirement

All clients must be 18 years of age or older. Valid government-issued photo identification may be requested prior to any service. We reserve the right to refuse service if satisfactory identification cannot be provided. No exceptions.

2. Booking & deposits

A non-refundable deposit is required to secure all appointments:

  • $100 deposit for sessions quoted at $300 or above

  • $50 deposit for sessions quoted between $150 and $299

Your deposit confirms your artist has reserved your time and in many cases has already invested hours in communication, quoting, and artwork preparation.

3. No-refund policy

All deposits are strictly non-refundable, with no exceptions.

4. Rescheduling

Deposits may be transferred to a future appointment at the studio's sole discretion, subject to the following:

  • A minimum of 48 hours notice must be given prior to the scheduled appointment

  • Requests within 48 hours will be treated as a cancellation — deposit forfeited

  • Deposits may only be transferred once — a second reschedule requires a new deposit

5. No-shows

Failure to attend without prior notice results in immediate forfeiture of your deposit. Repeated no-shows may require full payment upfront before future bookings are accepted.

6. Consent & health disclosure

All clients must complete a consent form prior to their session. You are responsible for accurately disclosing any medical conditions, medications, allergies, or skin conditions that may affect your session. House of Black accepts no liability for adverse outcomes arising from undisclosed health information.

7. Right to refuse service

House of Black reserves the right to refuse service for reasons including (but not limited to):

  • Failure to produce valid identification

  • Attendance under the influence of alcohol or drugs

  • Undisclosed medical conditions presenting a risk to client or artist

  • Aggressive, disrespectful, or threatening behaviour toward staff

  • Requested designs that are offensive, discriminatory, or violate our studio standards

8. Aftercare responsibility

Aftercare instructions are provided at the end of every session. Proper aftercare is your responsibility. House of Black is not liable for infection, fading, or other outcomes from failure to follow aftercare instructions. Touch-ups for issues arising from improper aftercare may be charged at the standard session rate.

9. Photography & portfolio use

With your consent, House of Black may photograph completed work for use in our portfolio, website, and social media. You may withhold consent without affecting your service.

10. Multi-session projects

For large pieces spanning multiple sessions, each session is treated as a separate appointment and requires its own deposit. Post-booking follow-up communications are triggered at the conclusion of the final session only.

11. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by Australian Consumer Law, House of Black's liability is limited to the value of services provided. We do not accept liability for indirect, incidental, or consequential losses.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Queensland, Australia. Disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Queensland.

13. Acknowledgement

By booking with House of Black, you confirm you have read and agreed to these terms, verified you are 18 or older, and agreed to complete a consent form prior to your session.
